Buy More, Save More.

“THE MORE YOU BUY, THE MORE YOU SAVE”

This could be the legacy of America. These are its defining words, words that show a power point picture of America and the perspective that dominants its people. These are the words that explain the cultural essence of this land and its people”

The More you Buy, the More you Save.

“The More you buy..” explains that your role in this reality of America is nothing more than a consumer of products. Nothing more. You are supposed to buy. And you are supposed to buy a lot! You are to spend your entire free time, when not engaged in earning the money that enables you to buy, buying whatever your television tells you to buy.

Not only that, but the more stuff you buy, the more you are supposed to save money. Lets see, I guess that means that if I want to buy a duckbilled cap. Price is $5.95, but instead I see a sign that tells me to “Buy 10 for $4.00 each!”. So I could buy 10 and spend $40.00, getting nine more duckbilled caps than I need. Or, I could spend $5.95 and get the one duckbilled cap I really wanted. So, the way I figure it, you need to “Buy Less, to Save More”. Spending money to buy more of a product than you need, just to save money on the extra products is an oxymoron. By buying the one duckbilled hat I wanted I saved $34.05, now that is saving money.

Television, the great master of society.

Look at what dominates the perception of most Americans. Our great cultural teachers, or drivers of societal norms, is Television Programming. Think of the lessons these programs teach:

  1. Survivor: A game show that essentially says that it is acceptable behavior to pretend to cooperate with others, but only up to the point that you see a weakness and can eliminate them, then you do whatever ya gotta do to beat em. Whoever is left standing at the end, wins all the marbles. Think of the message that sends!

  2. The Apprentice: a ‘reality show’ that appears to teach the lesson that anyone can arise to the millionaire classes if you are well educated, well groomed, have excellent teeth, and can fawn in appropriately subtle ways. The Reality of this ‘reality show’, is that it demonstrates the immense gap between the ultra-wealthy and the rest of us. It shows this almost God-like figure of the obscenely wealthy Trump, bestowing favorite son, or daughter, status on a mortal sycophant. Think of the message that sends!

  3. Desperate Housewives. A show essentially about a bunch of lying, scheming, immoral neighbors who smile politely to each other as a cover up for their insanely vicious temperments. Lessons learned seem to be: watch out for your neighbor.

  4. 24. A full throttle adventure series that features deadly terrorists assaulting the United States. A plot that is guaranteed to frighten the bejabbers out of our Citizenry as it feeds right into the enormous FEAR campaign of George W. Bush. Additionally, you have the ‘good guy’ perfectly willing to torture, lie, steal, maim, all in the name of ‘stopping the terrorists’. Perfect lesson plan to set the stage for Bush to break any law he chooses as part of the ‘War on Terrorism’.

  5. Lastly, West Wing, a show that demonstrates how democracy should be handled. It features top political leaders who posses, intelligence, political acumen, excellent communications skills, and most of all, ethics. Factors that none of our top politicians posses today. Why is this show featured here? Because it is a sop to the progressives in this country, a ‘feel good’ feature that placates the absolute yearning among Democrats for fair play and justice in our political system.

Of course there are many more, but this list will suffice to get my point across.

The REAL Terrorists.
But beyond our ‘entertainment’ to shape our civilization in an appropriate manner, we have even greater threats from our own Politicians. Politicians, bought and paid for by every major corporation in the land.
Consider this….

“…Gasoline prices, home heating supply prices and now credit card prices have all been weaponized by doubling them, intentionally crippling American families so that they protest less the infamy and tyranny so glibly issuing from the federal government. Weakened people living from hand to mouth, barely existing from payday to payday, won't have the energy to fight far worse terrorists than fundamentalists with guns. It's not an accident that the Fed can now access all your financial, medical and employment records without probable cause nor warrant. Americans who said nothing against the PATRIOT Act, allowing the Fed to abuse the rights of imaginary terrorists have themselves become terrorist suspects and now have almost no rights themselves. What goes around, comes around. And boy, has this ten-ton omelette settled on our faces…”
(Real terrorists rape consumers) 01/03/2006 13:00

The real terrorist we face today are the unholy combination of our political leaders and corporate power. These will do far more damage, both short and long term than any handful of middle eastern religious zealots.

Lastly we have THE LOTTO. A device to give some tiny margin of hope to all those Americans so overwhelmed by bills, low paying jobs, no health insurance, and a declining value of the dollar that they desperately cling to a gamble that has greater odds than Vegas ever dreamed of. The LOTTO’s, like illegal street drugs in this society, are there to pacify the populace. These are designed and deliberate actions by political and corporate elites to control American Society.

Next time you settle in for a evening of television watching, ask yourself, “What is the real cultural propaganda” this program is presenting? One thing is certain, much of what we see on television is no accident, it is not naturally evolved programming, rather it is part of a national effort to re-direct society norms, much like slogans, sound bites, newspapers and televised ‘news’, to benefit the rich and powerful in this country.

Most of all remember:
It's not who votes that counts, it's who counts the votes. -- J. Stalin

On the mark, but it sounds like you think this is a conspiracy rather than a world power in decline?

I think that it is a Conspiracy in a World Power that is in decline. In reading Zinn's, A peoples history of the United States, it would appear that there has been an ongoing conspiracy for quite some time. Wether this is exactly true, I don't know. But it does seem to fit with the methods of our political system now. As for being 'in decline' I think that our utter dependence on oil will hasten this demise.
